Family-owned Ron Brooks Motor Group has promoted Tom Slack as group chief commercial officer to help lead its strategy development and growth ambitions.
Slack will lead the group’s commercial operations, with responsibilities spanning strategy development, sales and marketing, business and people transformation and enhancing the overall customer experience.
He will report directly to the executive chairman Kevin Slack and “work closely with senior directors as well as divisional brand and department heads to drive growth and engagement across the organisation”.
Slack, who was previously group manager of strategy and innovation for the group, comes amid a period of significant expansion for the company.
Over the past 18 months, Ron Brooks has opened and acquired several new businesses, resulting in turnover more than doubling, with revenues now on track to exceed £100 million.
The business represents Toyota, Suzuki, as well as new franchises Omoda and Jaecoo across locations in the East Midlands, with showrooms in Derby, Ilkeston, Mansfield and Leicester.
Looking ahead, Ron Brooks plans to further expand its footprint with new sites and partnerships involving both existing and new OEM brands.
The group has been working with Toyota for over 50 years and Suzuki for over 10, but has recently expanded with Suzuki, as well as Omoda and Jaecoo.
The business is positioning itself as one of the fastest-growing privately owned automotive retailers in the UK.
Slack brings a strong academic and professional background to the role.
He holds a first-class degree from the University of Bath and Rotterdam School of Management in the Netherlands.
His previous experience before joining the automotive retail industry includes roles in investment banking and the Cabinet Office.
